Officially opened on 22 May 1992 Ridgehaven is a comfortable, hostel-style facility built in a home like environment. We have 36 private rooms, 15 located upstairs and 21 downstairs, connected via walkways, stairs and lift. The rooms are light, airy and very well maintained. Each room has a private ensuite, built-in wardrobe and most have access to a courtyard or landscaped garden. All rooms have individual air-conditioning, nurse call alarm, television sockets and access to a private phone line connection if desired. Interconnecting rooms can be offered to couples.

 

Gardens sprawl around the buildings, inner courtyards and secure area. Hanging baskets adorn the many verandahs and walkways. Our gardener, along with residents, also produces a variety of fruits and vegetables for our kitchen. There are several shaded areas with comfortable chairs and tables for residents and visitors to enjoy the great outdoors. 

 

Our main lounge and dining area adjoins a large kitchen where meals are prepared from scratch using fresh ingredients. Our cooks take great pride in providing home style meals that are nutritious, delicious and meet the dietary requirements and needs specific to each resident. A semi-enclosed, large shaded outside area near the kitchen provides a comfortable spot for gatherings and barbecues. 

 

Our on-site Maintenance Officer and Gardener keep everything in top order. Our in-house laundry also looks after the residents’ personal items.

 

Our power is generated through solar energy and general supply. We also have a diesel generator as an emergency backup. 

 

Ridgehaven is located in the township of Monto at the top of the North Burnett approximately 196klm west of Bundaberg, 158klm south-west of Gladstone and 238klm south-east of Rockhampton. Monto is surrounded by grazing and farming land, national parks and lies just south of picturesque Cania Gorge and Lake Cania. Our rural location offers a tranquil lifestyle that is hard to beat.

 

Monto Hospital and Monto Family Medical Practice are next to our complex. A helipad is situated in the grounds of Monto Hospital and Monto boasts a small airport suitable for emergency flights by the Royal Flying Doctors Service and other care flights. A commercial airport is located 95klm north at Thangool/Biloela. 

 

Ridgehaven is one of the largest employers in Monto. We support local businesses and in turn are supported by the community.
